I like to crochet! Not only do I get to make super cool projects, but I also develop hands on experience that helps me in ways that you wouldn't expect. For one, I have a longer attention span and can better absorb information. Additonally, studies suggest that crocheting can help with anxiety and stress. In my experience, it's true! It puts my mind at ease and gives me an outlet for creative or worried energy. I've made tons of cool projects, including but not limited to:
Although in every other area of my life I am prone to follow rules and guides to the letter, I never follow directions when I crochet and use unique patterns of my own invention. Following someone else's work doesn't mean much to me and I can make something much cooler if I figure it out myself! I wonder what this means to me with coding, as I find it is weirdly similar to crocheting. There's the building blocks like basic stitches, there's the repetition, and there's the sense of having to do it one at a time and work yourself out of anything you get into (nesting). I thought about this a lot after I started practicing html over the summer so imagine my surprise when I found this!
